In 2020, members of the Australasian Cave and Karst Management Association (ACKMA) grouped together to set up a regional cave climate monitoring program. At the time, tourist caves were largely closed due to COVID-19, and a baseline study was envisaged.

Roll on to 2024, and a few of those original volunteer organizations and staff have continued to collect data. The latest data uploaded has been made to the ACKMA website at https://ackma.org/. Why not take a look?

The technical bit: identical loggers were purchased and calibrated prior to deployment, and regular calibration checks have occured. Data collected is cave air temperature and relative humidity and outside air temperature and relative humidity. Results have been reported regularly in the ACKMA Journal.
